Baptisms in Magdalena, MX
In late May, the church community in Magdalena, MX, experienced the blessed occasions of baptisms and Holy Communion. Francisco Damián Alcaraz Martínez, an employee of Carnisimo and former resident of Casa Vida y Esperanza, and Marshall Wulf, a former MK (missionary kid) were baptized in La Iglesia Cristiana De La Misión. Frankie lived at Casa Vida y Esperanza for a number of years before heading into a life away from God’s will. A little over a year ago, God was faithful to water the seeds that were sown, called him to repentance and gave him the desire to live for Jesus and be baptized. The Fatted Calf 2021 Summer Interns
Alicia Bojorquez (L) and Addison Beyer (R) are this summer’s Fatted Calf interns.
This summer’s intern program has the privilege of having 2 interns that have history with the Expo Esperanza experience. Alicia Bojorquez and Addison Beyer both were involved in Expo Esperanza for many years as participants but this year step to the other side to fill the roles of teachers and mentors.
In addition to their roles of leading animal practices and teaching classes on various Expo projects, Alicia and Addy have been working for Carnisimo and Carnisimo Burgers developing Facebook ads and putting together promotional material.
Their energy, Expo experience and awareness of the Mexican culture is a benefit to the business and program outreach in Magdalena, MX. We are excited to have them as this summer’s 2021 Fatted Calf interns!
Meet Addy and Alicia
Hi everyone! My name is Addison Beyer. I live in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora where I have been involved in the horse program(caring for and riding horses) for the past 5 years. I have also loved photography from a very young age and have had different super fun opportunities to photograph weddings, couples, seniors, etc…. for people here in Magdalena and also in the Midwest where I am originally from. After this summer my plan is to dive into growing my photography business and going wherever that takes me! For the month of June our main focus as interns will be to work for Carnisimo and Carnisimo Burgers, helping with marketing and working on any current projects. This summer I am super excited to get to teach the horse and photography classes, and hopefully spread some of the passion I have for both classes to the kids I get to teach. I will also be teaching an agriculture, and guitar/singing class along with helping teach dog classes. I had the opportunity to participate in 5 years of Expo, and now am super thankful that I get the chance to serve as an Intern - that same role that I was blessed by from previous years of Interns who came down over the summer. I think it will be a great growing experience for me and I am super thankful for the opportunity I have to serve as an intern here in Magdalena this summer.
Hello my name is Alicia Guadalupe Bojorquez Maldonado, I was born and raised in Magdalena de Kino Sonora, Mexico. I am 18 years old and I've lived more than half my life in Casa Vida y Esperanza as a kid who was brought to give hope, good life and a safe environment, to be given the life all kids should have. I wouldn't be who I am now if God hadn't brought me to Casa Vida y Esperanza, and I am thankful for their support in my life. Through Casa Vida y Esperanza, God made it possible for me to go to college this coming year to study nursing, and now I get the privilege to serve him and be an intern for this summer 2021. I am glad that growing up I got the opportunity to participate in Expo Esperanza. It taught me a lot of life skills that are beneficial for the future, such as hard working, the “never give up” mentality when things get hard, discovering abilities I didn't know I had and working to get better at them. I am super excited to see the kids grow in many ways, and to be the person to teach them a variety of classes like, painting, drawing, color pencil, entomology, to grow their abilities in music, singing and performing arts. I’ll be in charge of leading the dog classes and assisting in the horse equitation and barrel practices. It's going to be interesting to do Expo with a different point of view, not as a student anymore but as an intern and teacher. As the youngest interns in Expos history it's going to be interesting seeing our interaction with the kids we already know, and see how that will grow our relationship with the young ones in Casa Vida y Esperanza. Something new we are going to be doing is marketing for Carnisimo and Carnisimo Burgers, it's something new and new things are hard sometimes. But I am excited and willing to help Carnisimo and Carnisimo Burgers grow their business. I am really looking forward to serving the Lord in this way, being able to help the kids grow their abilities and discover the talents that they have not discovered yet, maybe they'll be interns in the future some day. To support them emotionally and encourage them when they want to give up. It's always exciting when you are doing something that God's going to plant a seed in people’s lives, especially these kids lives, and I know for sure that God will keep watering the seed that will and has been planted in these kids.

Praise God for the skills and interests of this summer’s Fatted Calf Interns Addison Beyer and Alicia Bojorquez, as they develop ads and promotional material for Carnisimo and Carnisimo Burgers.
This year’s internship also includes working in the business outreach to fulfill some needs with PCLM. Pray that the interns will see God’s faithfulness to provide for them in the areas that are out of their comfort zones as they grow their leadership skills.
